Hammerless Side Lock

These  were the pinnacle of guns made by Perrins, right at the end of his era. Like the hammerless  box locks they tend to be of top quality and are also of 'modern' design, which has changed little in the intervening years. They often work as well today as they did over 100 years ago. These two guns demonstrate the evolution that was taking place in the gun making industry at the time. Today the cocking of the hammers is almost universally achieved by the barrels opening. On one of these the extended top leaver cocks the hammers.
