Perrins Owners Club Meets

In 2010 we decided to have the very first meeting of the ‘Perrins Owners Club ‘ at South Worcester Shooting Ground. John clements donated the use of the shooting ground for the day and let as many people know as possible. The first shoot was restricted to, the then small number, of Perrins Owners. The day was very informal with all the owners giving a short presentation about the history of their guns. We were pleasantly surprised by the interest from

other owners of old guns.

In 2012 we opened up the day and called it a 'Vintagers' day including the Perrins Owners. Well we were packed out. We decided that the day should be primarily about the work of the Perrins family but we did let anyone with a pre 1914 gun bring it along on a ‘show me yours’ basis. There was also an opportunity to have a few shots at some clays for those who wanted to and we had various historic pieces from flintlocks through to early hammerless guns being fired. To add to the excitement Richard brought his small cannon along and fired a blank. John fired off his punt gun, unfortunately neither is by Perrins, but they do make a great bang.

Two years later, in 2014, we held the event once again but extended the invitations to specifically include any pre 1914 guns that anyone wanted to bring along. Perrins had a section all to itself and the number of guns represented had grown in the interim two years. However the number of ‘other’ guns had grown enormously and the marquee was full of interesting and rare flinters, percussion, needle fire, pin fire, pill locks, tube locks as well as the more conventional actions.

Again it was a great excuse to let off the cannon and the punt gun. The local muzzle loaders club put on a display and ‘have a go stand’ so the day proved to be a vintage gun enthusiast’s heaven for a few short hours.

I have to apologise as there may be a few non Perrins day photos which have crept in.

On Jan 29th 2016 several Perrins owners got together for a days pheasant shooting.
