16 Bore, Jones Underlever

Pin Fire conversion with underlever grip safety.

If this gun could talk it would have an interesting tale to tell.

Originally a pin fire this gun has been converted to a 16 bore center fire at some time. It is probable that the work was undertaken by Perrins himself as the serial number on the rib is not in sequence for a gun of this age but is in sequence with other centre fire cartridge guns. The rib was probably replaced at the time of conversion. The gun has an interesting grip safety, quite a rare feature on a hammer gun. You can still see evidence of the notches in the barrels to accomadate the pins and the engraving on the top of the barrels to disguise the conversion.
