Richard tells me he doesn’t know much about this gun except that it is a 12 bore and the firing pin looks to be a cut down nail!!! He also says that the barrel was in pretty poor shape before de-activation.

For a single barrelled gun, which tended to be utilitarian, it looks to be quite a good one with some engraving. It has a damascus  barrel with a Juones underleever action. Without a photograph of the proof marks it is difficult to age although it must be later as it has no half cock possition although it doesn't look like a rebounding hammer either. It just has Perrins & Son Worcester on the top of the barrel, so not much help there either. The serial number is difficult to read but appears to end in 309 - which again isn't a great deal of help in dating.
