The inscription isn't Albert Winsor. It is Maker to HRH (Prince Albert) Windsor.
There are parenthesis I think the Windsor is just referring to where it was made.
I'll have to look at exactly where the parenthesis are again, but they are there.
That is the mark on it. I can send a better photo of the mark when I get a chance.
The proof marks are supposed to be from 1855. When I was reading through the
paperwork, I don't think it says that Prince Albert was competing. It says he witnessed
the event where British Champion was defeated from my understanding. I just want to
make sure all the facts are presented accurately. From what I have heard there was an
article in an American shooting magazine in late 70's that talks about this event. I have
never been able to verify it. Serial number of the gun appears to be 395. If Prince Albert
wasn't a live bird shooter, isn't it plausible that this wasn't used for that and a smaller gauge could be considered reasonable? This does have the ramrod. The end unscrews and there is a brush. I had a photo of Jack Brewer with this gun (I think), but it got lost unfortunately.
I appreciate all the assistance.
Thanks,
Randy
