20 Bore Hammer Gun

This lovely little round action 20 bore hammer gun is a delight to handle. Its features make it look a very typical Perrins, delightful damascus barrels, lovely sharp engraving with a dog & partridge on one side with a dog and pheasant on the other.
Other features are left hand side lever opening, double bite lock with the push button opening forend finished off with a horn insert. The damascus barrels are very pretty with a lovely pattern and the stock has the metal toe and heel plate as in many other guns.
The name on the rib is faint but looks like Perrins & Son Maker, Worcester with the number 5000. The other gun of this period all appear to be in the 3000's.
The proof marks have "not for ball" giving us a date of between 1875 & 1887.
The gun handles and balances exceptionally well and breaks clays as though it was made for the job.
