False hammer 12 Bore
Paul has a rare 'false hammer gun' in 12 bore.
He picked it up 'for a song' at a local shop - but it is in need of some seriousTLC!!!!. In its day it would have been a top quality gun right at the cutting edge of the very latest innovation in shotgun actions.
As you can see one of the hammers has been replace by a crude home made effort, the trigger guard has become detached at the front edge, the stock has had some filler applied and either side of the top lever their is significant wood missing. So it looks like it hasn't been cherished in the last 50 years or more!! but it certainly isn't beyond restoration to the wonderful gun it once was. I suppose the question one has to ask is it an economical project? I would suggest that it would be a project undertaken out of admiration for the craftsmanship of the time, one that probably won't show a profit but may break even on its final valuation - I would certainly do it if it was mine, which unfortunately it isn't.
