This mighty single barreled 6 bore is owned by Bennans Father in Law. As you can see it is now a wall piece but in its day it must have been a significant fowling piece. From what I have read the USA outlawed anything bigger than 10 bore to protect the wild fowl population in around 1920. There was a significant amount of punt gunning and big bore shoulder guns used on Cheasapeak bay and the Misssippi before then. I guess this wonderful old guns shooting days are probably over which is a great shame as it would have made a wonderful boom across the marshes.
